About Us

Celebrating African storytelling traditions and fostering meaningful conversations through vibrant, illustrated storybooks for children

Our Mission

Ama Worla is dedicated to fostering meaningful discussions through engaging and animated African storybooks designed for children and their parents.

We believe that every child deserves to see themselves reflected in the stories they read, and to discuss important concepts with their parents, educators and caregivers. We provide African-centered tales that inspire, educate, and entertain.

African Storytelling Traditions

For thousands of years, storytelling has been at the heart of African cultures, passing down wisdom, values, and history from generation to generation.

Moral Lessons

Many African stories feature animal characters and teach important moral lessons about honesty, courage, wisdom, and community. These tales help children understand complex values and social norms in an accessible and entertaining way.

Community Connection

Storytelling sessions were communal events that brought people together, strengthening social bonds and creating shared cultural experiences. They also provided an opportunity for deep discussions to be held in a relaxed and lighthearted way. Stories reinforced community values and helped maintain social cohesion across generations.

Why African Stories Matter

Representation and Identity

Children need to see themselves in the stories they read. African stories provide representation for African children and help all children appreciate the diversity and richness of African cultures.

Educational Value

African stories teach universal values like honesty, courage, kindness, and wisdom through engaging narratives.
